Weekly Updates - Term 1 Week 9 Tuesday

Dear parents,

1. On Leave
I am on leave from 3 March (tomorrow) - 13 March (next Friday) and will only be back school on the first day of Term 2 Week 1. Miss Soh Sheau Mai will take over my job during this period. Should you have any urgent matters to contact 1F teacher-in-charge, you can email her: soh_sheau_mai@nyps.edu.sg Else, you can also email me or cc an email to me if you think follow up actions need to be taken by me in Term 2.

2. Chinese Lesson Progress
Blue files have been checked and returned to your child yesterday. Parents please check your child's worksheets inside and sign on the content page (sign above the coconut tree.) Children are told to keep the blue file with them for revision during March school holiday and they are only requested to hand in the blue files on Term2 Week1 Monday when I am back from my leave. They are also reminded to hand in their activity book on the same day (23 March 2009). From tomorrow, Miss Soh will revise what we have learned with the class and not to forget, on Thursday, children will have their spelling test 4 with Miss Soh.

3. Parent Meetings
Acknowledgement slips were given to your child yesterday. Please check the confirmed timeslot which I am going to meet you. In case you cannot make it on that time, please do email me to book a new appointment. For those who chose to communicate with me by phone or email, I will call you or email you during Term2 Week1 as well.

4. Order for Class Photos
I've already received the samples for class photos. Parents please bring some cash or your cheque book when you come for parent meeting on 23 Mar or 26 Mar. I will need you to fill in the order form and pay the cash or cheque on the spot. For parents who are not coming to meet me personally, I will give your child the order form on 23 March (Monday), please fill in and hand in on 24 March (Tuesday).

5. International Friendship Day
To commemorate International Friendship Day this year, we plan to have a mini fashion parade of national costume from different countries during the assembly period on April 13. Each class can have 1-3 representatives to catwalk. Parents of these volunteered children need to source for national costumes or even “tailor-made” or create costumes for their kids. Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants for P1 level. If your child is interested in volunteering himself/ herself, please kindly email me with the name of the child, and the nationality of the costume that he or she will be wearing by 23 March (Mon).

6. Aqua Fiesta Carnival 2009
NYPS will have the above event on 13 March (Friday) in Jurong West Swimming Complex. A notification letter has been given to your child today. Please do spend some time reading the letter and take note of the following:
6.1. Attendance is complusory.
6.2. If your child is taking school bus and he/she needs transport to go from home to pool and pool to home, you need to indicate and return the form. This is only applicable to those taking school buses. Those not taking school buses are to get their parents to send them there.
6.3. Pupils are encouraged to get parents go with them.
6.4. Each game is priced at $1 to $2 and similarly for food. Pupils will need to use the coupon to pay for the games and food. Each coupon has the value of $20. Pupisl are to drop the order form in the box in the general office. More coupon you buy, the more games you can play, more food to eat and more chances of lucky draw.
Please fill in the last page of the letter (Transport & Coupons) and drop them into the righ boxes in general office latest by 9 March. Wish you all have fun on this coming event!
